The Industry Track at CHIIR 2027 is a new track for the CHIIR conference. It will be held as part of the conference but exact timing will be dependent on accepted presentations and interest. The goal of the Industry Track is to revitalize practitioner interest and attendance at CHIIR and help connect industry to academic researchers in the Interactive Information Retrieval (IIR) field.
The track is particularly concerned with how users fit into modern information access systems and how users are viewed in industry. This can include how user studies are conducted, how evaluation across users occurs (especially for generative and agentic information access systems), and the overall process from industry research to tangible products. We also invite discussions on safety, accountability, and transparency of systems with respect to user privacy, data ownership, and safety.
We encourage participation from all different areas of industry work from student internships to established companies to start-ups looking for collaboration opportunities.
Accepted industry track submissions will be presented during CHIIR 2027 in a manner appropriate (e.g., poster / panel / presentation) to the format and number of accepted submissions. The corresponding submission will be published as a 4-page (excluding references) paper in the official CHIIR 2027 proceedings.
We welcome submissions on any topic relevant to the general field of Interactive Information Retrieval. Please use the general topics outlined for CHIIR 2027 as a guide.
Proposals are limited to 4 pages, excluding references. Proposals should include:
Submissions will be in a lightweight single-blind peer-view where the goal will be to select for submissions that will be of interest to the CHIIR community.
